Service Groups
Members of Rollag Lutheran Church within a 50-mile radius are included in one of three service groups. The three service groups rotate monthly and are responsible for ushering, serving communion, reading, providing flowers for the altar, and serving coffee after church. In addition, the service groups also serve meals at funerals, church dinners, and Lenten services. We ask everyone to serve as they are able.
The Service Groups are led by two coordinators. Each of the three service groups also has a group leader. The lead coordinators are responsible for coordinating activities with the service group leaders. The group leaders are responsible for contacting service group members and lining up service volunteers. The service groups are rotated every other year; the leaders are arranged by the coordinators; the coordinators are elected at the congregational annual meeting.
Each Sunday, two ushers, one reader, and at least two coffee servers are needed. On communion Sundays, one communion server and one communion washer is needed, (this may be the same person). Often, the people ushering will volunteer to read scripture as well. There are approximately 35 families per service group and 20-25 service opportunities each month (not counting funerals). Funerals usually require 3-6 servers from each of the three service groups. These servers are responsible for preparing, bringing bars, serving, and cleaning up the family dinner.
Please feel free to contact your service group leader if you have any questions.
